The 5th annual Whidbey Festival of the Arts k-12, at SWHS-(May 29, 30), is THIS WEEKEND. Please spread the word!

Saturday at 2 PM is the SWE Talent show, and then Gloria Ferry Brennan will perform on violin (time TBD).

Friday evenings performances include LMS and HS jazz bands. Smaller ensembles will play in the courtyard over Friday night and Saturday, like Island Dance groups and Island Strings.

The event is sponsored by The SWE Volunteer Art Docent Program, The Whidbey Island Arts Council Artist in Residence Program, and SWSD.

Please share the poster, and with your help, we will have an even greater attendance this year.

We could still use some volunteers to help facilitate at the different creativity stations set up at the Festival. Shifts are about two hours long, we could really use some helpers on Friday night, from 6:30 to 8:30 and through out the day on Saturday-from about 10:45 to 5:00. It is a great chance to visit with other art enthusiasts, help kids explore a new medium and enjoy the festive atmosphere! Please get in touch with Cailyn Murray ASAP if you are interested! cailyn_m@hotmail.com

SWES Textile Drive

The elementary school will be partnering with the 4H club K9 Korp to do a textile drive the last few weeks of school. As a partner, some of the funds will be given to the elementary school for supplies while the rest of the funds will be used for 4H education opportunities and other 4H related expenses.

We will have two large bins outside the front entrance for you to place your items into. This is the time to get rid of clothes, blankets, curtains, sheets, and shoes. that are too worn to be of any use, but you can’t just bring yourself to throw away. Unusable items will be recycled and any usable items will be given to a local thrift shop.

Thank you for supporting your school and local 4H. Any questions please email me at jcravy@sw.wednet.edu
