Holiday Box Tops & Labels For Education Drive

*This fundraising event is for, and is by SWES, but SWEPTA wants to help spread the word.*

Now through 1/8 South Whidbey Elementary School is going to be hosting an all school Box Top & Labels for Education Drive!  The class* that collects the most Box Tops (expired ones will not count) and Labels for Education (must have logo & barcode) will win a pizza party!  Not only that, but ALL classes that collect 400 or more will get a popcorn party.   That averages out to less than 20 box tops or labels for education per student.

Our school earns .10 for every box top that we turn in that has not expired.  If we averaged 20 box tops per student we would raise over $1100.  The money raised from these goes to a variety of things including playground equipment and rain day recess supplies and equipment.  Box Tops can be found on a variety of products from breakfast cereal, to cleaning supplies like garbage bags, and even office supplies like your printer paper!  You can find a full list of participating products here:

Labels for Education can be found on a large variety of food products.  We get points for every valid label submitted and can use those points to purchase a variety of playground & classroom supplies based on our current needs. You can find a full list of participating products here:
Don’t buy many products that have these?  Ask friends, family & neighbors (with your parents’ permission of course) if they can collect them for you too!

Just turn your Box Tops & Labels for Education into your teacher on a collection sheet, in a zip top bag or an envelope with your teachers name on it.  These are class competitions only, so it does not need student names, just the teachers. More printable collection sheets can be found on the site or in the front office. We will announce the winner after winter break!

Questions?  Contact the drive coordinator Kymy Johnson.

*Because the Callahan’s 5th grade classes are combined, theirs will be collected together and they have to collect twice as many as a single class to win, and 800 to earn a popcorn party.

SWES ASB Kettle Corn Fundraiser November 10-December 11

dont forget

The SWES ASB kettle corn fundraiser has been extended until December 11th.

Hello Orca Families,We use our ASB funds for assemblies like Tap Root Theater Bullying Program and the Reptile Man as well as for recess equipment and leadership incentives for students.  We have spent a considerable amount of funds on assemblies over the last couple of years and need to replenish those funds so we can continue to offer assemblies, drama club, and leadership incentives to students.  We have only had one fundraiser in the last three years, so it is time for a fundraiser.  For this round we chose to sell Kettle Corn.  It is quick and easy to sell and easy for our supplier to get orders to us within a week.  In addition, the gentleman that owns this company is retired from the military (thus the name Uncle Sam’s) and is very supportive of schools (his grandmother was an English teacher).  He has reduced his profit to increase ours.kettle-corn-pot

We will be sending home order forms along with this letter in our THT folders on November 10th.  We will sell popcorn through the Thanksgiving break and will need order forms back by Friday, December 4th 11th.  We should have the orders back by the end of the next week.

This Kettle Corn is well worth the small price of $5 per bag.  I saw the same product of much lower quality at a fair for $9 a bag.  I purchase bags (usually 3 or 4) of the regular flavored Kettle popcorn every time we go across Snoqualmie Pass to the Yakima area.  In addition to his regular flavor he also makes caramel flavored.

We appreciate your support to increase our ASB funds.  As a staff we will be looking into other fundraiser ideas such as selling items that we grow on our school farm.  If you are interested in helping us with ideas for other fundraisers please contact me.
