South Whidbey School District Unity Day Spirit Shirts

SWEPTA is sharing this message is from the South Whidbey School District that went out via email with a small update at the bottom with a little more info.

October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Nationally, statistics show that more than one out of every five students reports being bullied. We hope we will see all our South Whidbey Students in Spirit shirts on our South Whidbey School District Unity Day, the fourth Friday in October – October 27, 2017. South Whidbey School District stands together against bullying, united for kindness, acceptance and inclusion.

Please support our efforts and complete the form for your child’s Spirit Shirt size (linked here) by Thursday, October 5, 2017. Please complete a new form for each of your children.

If you have any trouble opening this link, please reply to this email with your child or children’s name, grade, classroom or first period teacher, t-shirt type (youth, mens, womens)  and size (xs, s, m, l, xl or xxl).

If your budget allows, please consider supporting this endeavor by making a donation.  Bring your cash or check donation made out SWSD marked for Spirit Shirts to your school front office or the District Office at 5520 Maxwelton Road, Langley WA 98260. The average cost is $10 per shirt. We will ensure every student receives a shirt regardless of their ability to donate. If you can cover the cost for an additional student, we greatly appreciate your help.

Attached, please find a picture of Spirit Shirts that were made for the staff.  Go Blue Whidbey and Savage Printing are working with SWSD to make a shirt for the students similar to these shirts.   The shirts will be the same blue color and have Go Blue South Whidbey Schools. However, we are looking at adding the Orca for the K-4 students, a Cougar for the 5-8 students and a Falcon for the 9-12 students.  The design is still in processWe have had many questions on the funding of the shirts.  The t-shirts are being printed for us by Savage Printing in Clinton. Go Blue Whidbey has helped us with the design. Sponsors include the Goosefoot, South Whidbey Schools Foundation, PTAs, Savage Printing and we have requests to vendors for donations and have received donations from teachers and parents sponsoring shirts for their students and additional students. Every child will receive a t-shirt. There is no fee. We are only requesting donations to help with the costs. The form is for parents to request the appropriate size so that we don’t have to guess what size each child might be and to cut down on having to purchase too many extras.  By completing the form, we can ensure your child receives the size you think they should have.

The purpose of the shirts is for UNITY and SPIRIT. We hope on SWSD Unity Day,  Friday, October 27, all students will GO BLUE and stand together unified for South Whidbey, for each other and against bullying. You can send any questions my way. When we receive the shirts, we could really use the help of the PTAs and leadership to distribute the shirts.

Seeking Vendors

SWEPTA (South Whidbey Elementary PTA) is still currently looking for a few more vendors for our December 3rd Holiday Market!

This is a community event to get Whidbey Island area crafters and artisans in one place for locals and visitors to shop.  There are no commercial or direct sales booths/products at this event.  It is all handmade/handcrafted/embellished or services in our area.

The market will be in the gym, this is our 4th year holding this event and it is a fundraiser for the PTA.  The last 3 years we raised money for the school, and while the event was small, it also put money back into other homes and small businesses in our community and all the vendors wanted to return.  We are already expecting more vendors this year then in years past.

* 2 booth sizes available 10×10 for $25 (limited) and 8×4 for $15, no additional commissions!!!

* You must provide your own table(s) and chair.

* Contact us ASAP, we are taking late applications until 11/30 or spots are full (could be sooner or later).  This is not a juried event but we do limit duplicate booths so don’t wait.

* Due to safety we can not have pets or small children in vendor booths unless they are infants please.

Some of the types of booths we are looking for, but are NOT limited too: Pottery, jewelry, clothing, toys, fiber wears, art, holiday decor, home decor items, small gifts and lots, lots more!

If interested contact Kymy Johnson the event coordinator.
