Jog-A-Thon has been a fundraiser for SW grades K-5 for over 20 years. This is SWEPTA’s largest fundraiser for the year. What is raised here directly affects SWEPTA programs for the remainder of the year. All fundraising goes into SWEPTA’s general funds which provides SWES with its Art Docent program, grants for field trip buses, family fun nights, and educational events like Science Day. Depending on the students grade the event will be 3/1 or 3/2 during their lunch recess.
How does the Jog-A-Thon work?
With the help of a parent, students ask friends, family & neighbors to make a pledge. They can pledge a flat donation or a donation per lap. The form is brought to school the day of the Jog-A-Thon and turned in to their teacher. During the event students run/walk/jog as many 1/8 mile laps as they can. Each lap they get a rubber band and we count them all at the end.
After they return to class volunteers will fill out the remainder of their sheet, attach their card & an envelope to their pledge sheet, and send it back home on 3/7. Then, with the help of parents, students collect all remaining pledges/donations & return them to their teacher in a sealed envelope WITH their pledge form by 3/15 to qualify for raffle entries.
The grade, as a whole, that raises the most money will win pizza parties for all of their classes. For example if 3rd Grade won, all three 3rd grade classes would get a pizza party.
A few safety rules to remember:
1.) A responsible adult should always hold on to pledge money making sure to keep it in a safe place.
2.) An adult should ALWAYS be with students when collecting pledges.
3.) We do not recommend going door to door to strangers houses.
More information including volunteering & raffle prize details can be found on the back. If each student were to bring in $20 total in pledges, we would pass our $10,000 goal! If you can’t raise that much that is okay! Just remember every dollar counts.

Along side the grade competitions, all students will receive a small treat after the event but they can also earn raffle entries for bigger prizes!
Every $5 worth of pledge money turned in = 1 raffle entry
$40 worth of pledges = 8 raffle entries
The more pledges/money students raise the more entries they will receive & the higher chance they have of winning a prize. Prizes have either been purchased by SWEPTA or donated by local companies. We will be giving away things as big as generic mp3 players, gift certificates for free local activities, games, water bottles, jump ropes and more!
The best part is whether students bring in $5 or $100 they all have a chance to win. If you or your company would like to donate some more prizes OR offer a pledge match please contact us via our Facebook page.

Jog-A-Thon is SWEPTA’s biggest fundraiser of the year, besides raising money, Jog-A-Thon day is directly linked to PE goals, encourages fun in movement, and school spirit! Complete this form & return it to your child’s teacher ASAP to volunteer.
At least two (2) adult volunteers are needed per classroom to support teachers and the SWEPTA crew, from 10am-2pm. Volunteers will interact directly with kids and teachers, help students have a safe, fun time on the track, and assist in the final lap count. We may not need all volunteers the whole time, during the lunch recess event is the most important.
March 1st : Grades Kindergarten, 2nd , 4th – During their lunch recess
March 2nd: Grades 1st, 3rd & 5th – During their lunch recess
