Seeking Vendors

SWEPTA (South Whidbey Elementary PTA) is still currently looking for a few more vendors for our December 3rd Holiday Market!

This is a community event to get Whidbey Island area crafters and artisans in one place for locals and visitors to shop.  There are no commercial or direct sales booths/products at this event.  It is all handmade/handcrafted/embellished or services in our area.

The market will be in the gym, this is our 4th year holding this event and it is a fundraiser for the PTA.  The last 3 years we raised money for the school, and while the event was small, it also put money back into other homes and small businesses in our community and all the vendors wanted to return.  We are already expecting more vendors this year then in years past.

* 2 booth sizes available 10×10 for $25 (limited) and 8×4 for $15, no additional commissions!!!

* You must provide your own table(s) and chair.

* Contact us ASAP, we are taking late applications until 11/30 or spots are full (could be sooner or later).  This is not a juried event but we do limit duplicate booths so don’t wait.

* Due to safety we can not have pets or small children in vendor booths unless they are infants please.

Some of the types of booths we are looking for, but are NOT limited too: Pottery, jewelry, clothing, toys, fiber wears, art, holiday decor, home decor items, small gifts and lots, lots more!

If interested contact Kymy Johnson the event coordinator.

SWES ASB Kettle Corn Fundraiser November 10-December 11

*This fundraising event is for, and is by SWES, but SWEPTA wants to help spread the word. This is a copy of an all school email from the principal.*

dont forget

The SWES ASB kettle corn fundraiser has been extended until December 11th.

Hello Orca Families,We use our ASB funds for assemblies like Tap Root Theater Bullying Program and the Reptile Man as well as for recess equipment and leadership incentives for students.  We have spent a considerable amount of funds on assemblies over the last couple of years and need to replenish those funds so we can continue to offer assemblies, drama club, and leadership incentives to students.  We have only had one fundraiser in the last three years, so it is time for a fundraiser.  For this round we chose to sell Kettle Corn.  It is quick and easy to sell and easy for our supplier to get orders to us within a week.  In addition, the gentleman that owns this company is retired from the military (thus the name Uncle Sam’s) and is very supportive of schools (his grandmother was an English teacher).  He has reduced his profit to increase ours.kettle-corn-pot

We will be sending home order forms along with this letter in our THT folders on November 10th.  We will sell popcorn through the Thanksgiving break and will need order forms back by Friday, December 4th 11th.  We should have the orders back by the end of the next week.

This Kettle Corn is well worth the small price of $5 per bag.  I saw the same product of much lower quality at a fair for $9 a bag.  I purchase bags (usually 3 or 4) of the regular flavored Kettle popcorn every time we go across Snoqualmie Pass to the Yakima area.  In addition to his regular flavor he also makes caramel flavored.

We appreciate your support to increase our ASB funds.  As a staff we will be looking into other fundraiser ideas such as selling items that we grow on our school farm.  If you are interested in helping us with ideas for other fundraisers please contact me.

 Thanks,
Mr. Cravy, Principal

2nd Annual SWEPTA Holiday Market & Winter Festival!

We are officially looking for local area vendors for this years event on 12/13!  Booths are $15 for 10′ x 4′ and $25 for 10′ x 10′, no additional fees, but vendors must provide their own tables/display.  We are looking to crafters and artisans from Whidbey Island and the north Seattle area who sell locally made and hand crafted items.  Unfortunately we are not taking commercial product booths, including but not limited to, direct sales like Mary Kay, Scentsy, Avon etc.  This event is a fundraiser for SWEPTA.  All booth fees and other donations from this event will go towards supporting our programs for the school like Art Docents, Teacher Grants, Field Trips, Free Family Fun Nights and more.

The goal of this event is to provide a place for local vendors to sell their handcrafted goods, as well as for community members to be able to shop locally putting their dollars right back into our community.  We will also be having a family friendly winter festival to provide free and warm activities and a Whidbey winter weekend ;).

If you are interested in participating as a vendor or would simply like to volunteer for the event please contact the event coordinator Kymy  for more information.  Vendor applications will be accepted until 11/30 or until spaces are filled. Vendor Flyer

SWEPTA Handmade Holiday Market ~ Looking for Vendors!

2013 SWEPTA Holiday Market

The money raised from this event will go into our general fund, which supports the art docent program as well as programs that we would like to add back in, such as teacher grants which help get the needed supplies into students classrooms.  The more money we raise, the more money that goes directly back into classrooms.

Friday night there will be a family fun movie night in the gym & on Saturday local groups will be doing FREE games & crafts for kids.  This is the same day as the Langley parade so there will be a lot of people out & about in a festive mood this day. Families can have fun and everyone can enjoy shopping local, handmade products

SWEPTA is accepting vendor applications until 11/25!!! Apply early for the best spots.

The booths will be at least 10’ long (most are 11-13’) plus vendors will be able to put a chair in the classroom doorway to sit & it’s just a flat $20 for the 2 days. If you would like to donate a small portion of your sales, or sales of a specific item, you are welcome to advertise you are doing so as long as you disclose how much you are donating to SWEPTA (can be a % or a flat $ but they have to give specific numbers).

Below is a downloadable .pdf flyer that you can print off & share with friends, family & customers and also a copy of the vendor application.  If interested in being a vendor please contact Kymy (contact info on the top of application).  Unfortunately we are not looking for direct sales or consultant booths at this time as we are aiming to have an all handmade event.

Super Kids Get Moving! 2013 Jog-A-Thon

 at South Whidbey Elementary School!!

2013 SWEPTA Jog-A-Thon

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 4TH, 2013

Jog-A-Thon has been a fundraiser for SW grades K-5 for over 20 years. This is SWEPTA’s largest & primary fundraiser for the year, what is raised here directly affects SWEPTA programs for the remainder of the year.  All fundraising goes into SWEPTA’s general funds which provides SWES with its Art Docent program, field trip buses, family fun nights, and educational events like Science Day.  One of the things we would love to be able to provide again is teacher/classroom grants to help provide teachers with the supplies they need.  This year we will also have some secret ‘SUPER’ friends to run with the kids.

How does the Jog-A-Thon work?
With the help of a parent, students ask friends, family & neighbors to make a pledge on their pledge sheet (printable  2013 pledge form). They can pledge a flat donation or a donation per lap.  The form is brought to school the day of the Jog-A-Thon and turned in to their teacher.  During the event students run/walk/jog as many 1/8 mile laps as they can.  Each lap a parent volunteer marks their card.

After they return to class volunteers will fill out the remainder of their sheet, attach their card & an envelope to their pledge sheet, and send it back home on 10/8. Then, with the help of parents, students collect all remaining pledges/donations & return them to their teacher in a sealed envelope WITH their pledge form by 10/16 to qualify for raffle entries.

SAFETY 1ST!
A few safety rules to remember:

1.)   A responsible adult should always hold on to pledge money making sure to keep it in a safe place.
2.)  An adult should ALWAYS be with students when collecting pledges.
3.)  We do not recommend going door to door to strangers houses.

If each student were to bring in $20 total in pledges, we would pass our $10,000 goal!  If you can’t raise that much that is okay!  Just remember every dollar counts.

RAFFLE PRIZES!!!71p4q1S1O0S__SL1500_

All students will receive a small prize after the event but they can also earn raffle entries for bigger prizes!

Every $5 worth of pledge money turned in = 1 raffle entry

$40 worth of pledges = 8 raffle entries

The more pledges/money students raise the more entries they will receive & the higher chance they have of winning a prize.  Prizes have either been purchased by SWEPTA or donated by local companies.  We choose to keep a theme this year & all prizes relate to ‘Get Moving’ in one way or another.  The 2 grand prizes that will be drawn first are 2 Super Scooters.  Then we will go down the line giving away things as big as mp3 players, gift certificates for free local kids boxing classes, games like Bop-It, water bottles, frisbees, jump ropes and more!

The best part is whether students bring in $5 or $100 they all have a chance to win.

If you or your company would like to donate some more prizes OR offer a pledge match please contact Kymy via email.
