SWEPTA is field trip funds, assemblies, lunch clubs, party nights, classroom extras, and support of all kinds, for students, families and teachers.

ABOUT US

We know engaged communities make a difference for student success in school and beyond.

We’re the South Whidbey Elementary PTA, a volunteer-powered group of caregivers, educators, and neighbors working together to support our school. From organizing events to funding enrichment programs and teacher needs, we help fill in the gaps and bring a little extra joy to the school year. Whether it’s your time, ideas, or a few dollars, there are so many ways to be part of SWEPTA—and every bit makes a difference.

Fundraising or fungiving—we’re always having a good time.

From Boo Bingo to Jog-A-Thon, our fundraising events bring the school community together while raising money for things like field trips, assemblies, and classroom extras. Every dollar helps, and every event is powered by people like you. Come to make an impact, stay to have fun!

Member Meeting

September 18th, 6-7pm

SWEPTA is a member-driven organization—that means your voice (and participation) is an important part of what keeps us going. Our first member meeting of the year is a fun opportunity to meet others in the school community while learning about the ways you can get involved.

You have questions.
We have answers.
(Most of the time).

  • A PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is a volunteer-led group that brings caregivers, educators, and community members together to support student success. At SWEPTA, we fund classroom extras, host events, advocate for our kids, and help build a connected school community.

  • Being a member means you support SWEPTA’s mission and want to stay informed or involved—on your terms. We have four meetings per year that require quorum (that means we need your voice to vote on important topics such as leadership, budget, or planning). Meetings aren’t mandatory and neither is participation in events, though engagement is key to our success as well as the potential for impact. A garden grows best when many people help tend it—there’s less weeding, more blooming.

  • $8 of every membership fee is given back to the Washington State PTA in the form of chapter dues. This investment gives SWEPTA access to training, advocacy at the state and federal level, grant opportunities, and signature programs like Reflections and School of Excellence.

Though dues contribute essential statewide support, they represent only a modest part of what SWEPTA raises toward school initiatives. The real impact comes from member engagement—volunteering, events, and fundraising throughout the year. Those efforts create programming, supplies, and community connections that enrich every student’s experience.

In other words: membership dues unlock valuable resources and tools—but it’s your active participation that powers what happens here locally.

  • There’s no required time commitment to be a member—just joining helps support SWEPTA’s mission. That said, we do rely on engaged members to bring ideas, energy, and helping hands to the work we do. Whether it’s an hour at an event, weighing in on a decision, or leading a project, every bit of involvement makes a difference. Your voice and presence help shape what SWEPTA can accomplish for our students and school community.

  • Board members help plan events, manage PTA operations, and keep everything running smoothly. They’re volunteers, just like you, working behind the scenes to make good things happen.

  • That’s great! Start by reaching out. Chat with us at an event, send an email, or attend a meeting. We’ll help you find a role that fits your interests and schedule.

  • Board elections happen each spring. If you’re interested in serving, we’d love to talk! Reach out to learn more about available roles and next steps. Board leadership requires active PTA membership, so make sure to join if you haven’t already!
